To reserve a spot in a course you must:

  • Be at least 16 years old, have at minimum a Class 7 learner’s license for a year, and have parental consent if you are under 18 years of age.

  • Accept the terms and conditions

  • Complete, sign and return our registration

  • Pay the fee for the course in full (no partial payments)

 

Cancellation policies:

  • Once the course has begun, no refunds or credits will be given.

  • All courses paid for must be taken in the same year (season) they were booked for.

 

Cancellation Fees:

  • At least 10 days before the start of your course:

    • Penalty: $120

  • At least 10 days before your one-on-one private:

    • Penalty: $70

  • 10 days or less prior to your course start:

    • Penalty: No refunds/credits

 

Course start date is the date of your first-day riding

 

Rescheduling Fees:

  • At least 10 days before your course start date:

    • Penalty: $65

  • Less than 10 days to your course start date:

    • Penalty: 50% of Course Fee

  • Once the course has begun:

    • Penalty: No refunds/credits

Minimum Course requirements:

Due to us running small classes of a maximum of 5 students in a course, we require at least 3 students to be registered in the class for the course to take place. If the minimum number of students booked in a course has not been met, Shifting Motorcycle School reserves the right to cancel the course and reschedule the students for the next available course, working with their schedule at no extra cost.

 

Weather/Illness:

Due to the unpredictable Calgary weather, Shifting Motorcycle School reserves the right to reschedule a course in the event that the weather is too extreme for teaching the course. We will work with you to find a suitable date for you to continue or reschedule a course at no extra cost. Should you choose to cancel the course entirely, the same cancellation policy above applies.

 

If you fall sick, from COVID-19 or other medical issues that prevent you from taking the course you are scheduled for; you may reschedule or cancel as per the rescheduling fees above (sections 3 and 4).

 

Shifting Motorcycle School reserves the right to end your registration or course if:

  • You fail to follow the instructor’s directives (ignoring safe riding procedures, damaging property due to negligence, crashing the motorcycle by disregarding instructions) you will be held responsible for all repair costs to our property, gear, and motorcycles including labour should the instructor deem that you are not treating our equipment responsibly and ignoring instructions). 

  • You are under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

  • Any kind of harassment towards our staff, instructors, or any other participants in the course.

  • There is no guarantee you will be taken on a road ride. Should the instructor believe that your skills are not up to par to be taken on the road ride, he/she will be letting you know that more training will be required before you can be taken out on the public road. This is entirely at the discretion of our certified and qualified instructors, your safety as well as others is of the utmost importance to Shifting Motorcycle School LTD.

 

Gear:

We recommend that you provide your own riding gear, such as helmets, jackets and gloves. However, we understand that you are learning a new skill and may not yet have acquired the appropriate gear for riding. 

 

We can provide you with helmets, jackets and gloves free of charge. However, we would kindly ask you to treat the loaner equipment with respect, this goes for our Motorcycles as well. 

 

We do our very best to keep the loaner gear sanitized as well as possible, but you assume the risk when choosing to use borrowed gear a risk of infection is still possible. Please use the same gear you have been given throughout the course.

 

You must have at the bare minimum a pair of denim jeans and a pair of boots/shoes that cover your ankles.

 

Before getting on a motorcycle, all gear must be worn, Such as helmets, jackets and gloves.

 

 Covid Directives:

 

  • 2 meters apart at all times!

  • Please do not touch anything you don’t need to touch, stay in the seat you have sat in.

  • Use the same motorcycle you have been riding throughout the course (unless you would like to switch with someone else). In this case, we will need time to disinfect both motorcycles prior to the switch.

  • Please have a mask with you at all times that you can wear. We have water bottles if you need to hydrate, however we recommend that you bring your own due to possible transmission risks.

  • We have disinfectant wipes, gels and sprays on location, please use them regularly, or carry your own.

  • Please avoid touching your face and eyes when you are putting our gear on; if you must, please sanitize your hands before.

  • If you are sick or show any signs of infections as described by Alberta Health Services, please DO NOT come to the class; go get tested and isolate yourself.
